Is High School of America accredited?
Yes. High School of America is a nationally accredited online K-12 school. The accreditation record is held by American K12 School, and High School of America is its online K-12 division, so a school or district asking to verify accreditation should be pointed to that name.
What grades does High School of America teach?
Kindergarten through grade 12. The elementary and middle grades work on completion of each grade's coursework, and the high school grades work toward the High School of America diploma.
How does enrollment start?
Enrollment starts with the enrollment form. There is no call to schedule first and no paperwork to gather beforehand. The grade level on the form is enough for us to build an estimated graduation path and tell you what it works out to.
Do I need my student's transcripts before we begin?
No. A missing transcript does not delay enrollment. We build an estimated graduation path from the grade level you give us, and official transcripts turn that estimate into the student's official plan once they arrive.
Who decides my student's graduation plan?
A counselor does. The path you see during enrollment is an estimate built from grade level. A counselor reviews the official transcript, finalizes the plan, and walks you through anything that changes between the two.
Can my student start in the middle of the school year?
Yes. Families move mid-year for all kinds of reasons and the coursework is self-paced, so a student picks up where the plan says they are rather than waiting for a term to begin.
Is the coursework self-paced or on a schedule?
Self-paced. Coursework opens as soon as the student account is live and the student moves through it at their own rate, which is what makes it workable for families who travel, train, or work around a schedule that is not a school bell.
