Kings County, California · a K-12 school run from home

Lemoore Online Homeschool

Lemoore carries its founder’s name run together, Dr. Lovern Lee Moore’s middle and last names joined into one word, and since 1961 it has shared its western horizon with a naval air station whose squadrons go to sea on aircraft carriers. Plenty of households here run on a turnover: one adult hands the house to the other, and somebody gets briefed before anything changes hands.

This is a Lemoore online homeschool built to take that kind of relief. It is an online K-12 school that reads what your student has already done, then holds the school part of the watch, so families can homeschool online under the rules on our California online homeschool page with certified teachers grading the work.

Pass-downitem one

A homeschool built for the turnover

How a watch changes hands

On a ship, every watch ends the same way. The sailor coming on asks questions, the sailor going off answers them, and the relief is not official until the new watch says it understands what it is taking over. Nothing is assumed. Each system gets its status said out loud, including the ones that are running fine.

The one rule on this page: no lesson is set until the record has been read. A counselor takes the brief on the first call, before any work is assigned, and tells you what was kept.

Why Lemoore households change hands so often

Homeschooling in Lemoore usually starts with a change at home, and a change of school ought to be handled like a watch. Mostly it is not. A student shows up somewhere new in February and someone sets work by grade level while the old records trail behind. Families in this part of the Valley change hands more than most: a parent leaves on deployment, a parent comes home, orders arrive for another coast, or a packing season pulls an older student into a morning shift. Each of those is a turnover.

What gets passed down in a Lemoore household

  • Where each subject actually stands, taken from recent graded work rather than the letter printed on a report card.
  • Which adult is the point of contact this month, and how a teacher reaches them.
  • What the month looks like: a duty rotation, a custody schedule, a harvest, a team.
  • What is already finished and must not be assigned again.

That last line matters most. A turnover that forgets what was done makes the oncoming watch do it twice,.

Untidy paperwork is fine. A phone photo of a marked worksheet tells a counselor more than a polished summary.

Kindergarten and elementary homeschool programs, placed by the child

Kindergarten homeschooling with one parent ashore

For the youngest students, the turnover is mostly about the adult at home. A five-year-old cannot brief anybody. The parent who stays ashore while the other is at sea becomes the person who sees the school day, so our kindergarten homeschooling programs are built for that parent to supervise rather than teach: short lessons, plenty of repetition, and certified teachers on the other end who check the work.

Kindergarten curriculum for Lemoore families

The homeschooling curriculum for kindergarten covers early reading, counting, shapes, listening and a little science about the world outside. Out here that means orchards, irrigation ditches and a great deal of sky. Families comparing Lemoore homeschool programs for more than one child often look at the whole K-12 homeschool program at once, so siblings share one school and one counselor.

Third through fifth grade: reading to learn, multiplication and paragraphs, placed subject by subject.

Third and fourth grade, where a move leaves gaps

Somewhere around third grade online a child stops practicing reading and starts using it to learn science and history, and a mid-year move tends to leave its hole right there. By fourth grade online, multiplication and paragraph writing carry most of the load.

Fifth grade and placement by subject in Lemoore

Placement in online elementary homeschool programs goes by what holds without help, one subject at a time, so a strong reader is not held back by a shaky times table and the reverse. Fifth grade online closes the elementary years with longer reading and fractions, and our parent guide to online elementary school covers what a typical day asks of the adult at home.

Middle watchsix to eight

Middle school online while a parent is deployed

Middle school is where a deployment shows up in the schoolwork. A sixth grader whose parent left in the fall is old enough to feel it and young enough that nobody at a new school may know. Middle school online keeps the structure steady in the months a household runs short-handed: a weekly rhythm the student helps set, lessons that open only when the last one held, and teachers who grade, so the parent at home is not also the grader.

No set hour to log in

A lesson can wait for the drive to the gate at dawn and pick up after lunch.

The next lesson opens on a quiz

A short check confirms the last one held before new material appears.

Teachers do the grading

The adult at home checks in on progress without becoming the grader.

One school through the move

Same courses, same teachers and same transcript when the household relocates.

Sixth through eighth grade in Kings County

Sixth grade online is the year a student starts working through a list alone, with an adult checking in rather than sitting beside them. Seventh grade courses lengthen the list. By eighth grade courses, the work starts pointing at high school, and a counselor can look at what ninth grade will ask before it arrives.

Lemoore military families and the middle years

A family that has moved three times by the end of middle school usually has three ways of describing math. The counselor’s job is to turn those into one placement and keep it through the next set of orders.

High school credits that hold through new orders

High school is where a careless turnover costs the most, because a lost course is a lost credit. A student who has moved twice during the online high school years can arrive with partial records from two or three states. The counselor reads every one of them before assigning anything, and the family is told in writing what counts and what is left.

Credits counted before the first assignment

Send every transcript you have, official or unofficial, along with any course a student started and did not finish. A counselor maps how the transfer credits line up before a single course opens, then tells you how many credits you have and need. See whether elective credits transfer too.

Ninth through twelfth grade for Lemoore students

  • Ninth grade: the foundation year in English, algebra, a lab science and history.
  • 10th grade online: geometry, chemistry or biology, and a second year of English.
  • 11th grade online: the year colleges read hardest, with U.S. history and upper-level math.
  • 12th grade online: government, economics and whatever the record says is still open.

Lemoore homeschool courses for these years come from the full course catalog, chosen against what the transcript already shows rather than a standard sequence.

A Lemoore homeschool diploma, issued by the school

The accredited diploma comes from an accredited school that sets its own graduation requirements. It is not a GED. The graduation credit requirements page lays out how the total is reached. Parents who began home schooling in Lemoore on their own and now want a diploma a school stands behind can read how to start homeschooling to see where their records fit.

Standing ordersthe law

California homeschool law and the private school affidavit

Homeschool laws in Lemoore are California’s

The city adds no rules of its own, so legal homeschooling here follows the state, and the state does something unusual. A district is never notified. A parent teaching independently runs a small private school on paper and files an affidavit with the state each year. A parent who enrolls the student with a school files nothing at all.

Filing An annual Private School Affidavit, filed with the California Department of Education, not with a school district. Education Code § 33190 requires it of anyone offering private school instruction at elementary or high school level.
When The statutory window is October 1 to 15 each year. The online filing system is separately open August 1 through June 30 for schools established outside that window.
Your district Parents are not required to report to their school district. Districts verify independently that the affidavit was filed, which is what confirms the exemption from compulsory attendance under Education Code § 48222.
Other routes California also recognizes enrolling in a private school satellite program, a public school independent study program, a charter school, or instruction by a credentialed tutor.
Statute Education Code §§ 33190 and 48222. The California Department of Education publishes the current requirements on its home schooling page.

Two routes, two sets of paperwork

The comparison below is the whole decision in four lines. Filing the affidavit and then enrolling anyway leaves a family carrying paperwork for a route it did not take.

Factor Teaching at home on your own Enrolled with an online school
Who files the private school affidavit The parent, as operator of a small private school Nobody in the household; the school holds the record
Who chooses and grades the work The parent Certified teachers
Where the transcript comes from Records the parent keeps The accredited school’s own transcript
What to tell the current school The last day, in writing, and where to send records The last day, in writing, and where to send records

If you are teaching at home yourself in Lemoore: California does not ask you to notify your school district. The common route is to operate as a small private school and file the annual Private School Affidavit with the state between October 1 and 15. The online system is open more widely, from August 1 to June 30, for programs started outside that window.

If your child enrolls in a school instead: that is a different route and the affidavit is not yours to file. The school carries the record. Ask a counselor which of the two you are actually choosing before you file anything.

Leaving a California public school mid-year

Withdrawing is a letter to the current school with the last day of attendance and a request that records be sent on. Our guide to withdrawing from a California public school walks through it. If orders are taking you out of the state, the state homeschool requirements change at the state line; an enrolled student’s school does not.

Logthe record

Accredited online K-12 school: who holds the record

For a family weighing a k12 online school in Lemoore, the word accredited means an outside body has reviewed the school and the school keeps the record of every course and grade. That record is what moves with a student, and it is why a family can request a verification of enrollment letter when an employer, a base office or another school asks for one. Our page on school accreditation explains how the review works.

What the record carries

  • Every course, with its grade and the term it was finished.
  • Credits earned toward the diploma, for students in grades nine to twelve.
  • Enrollment dates, which is what a verification letter confirms.

Going back to a district school from Lemoore

Yes, a student can return to a district school. Credits earned here travel on an accredited transcript, and the receiving school reads it the way it reads any transfer. The page on high school transcripts shows what a receiving school sees. The classroom to online homeschooling guide covers the opposite move.

Standing order

Whether a district accepts credits back is always the receiving school’s decision. Ask the one you might return to, in writing, long before you need the answer.

Storesthe cost

Tuition for a K-12 year, answered up front

Does K12 cost money for a Lemoore family?

Families ask it in exactly those words, and the plain answer is yes, this is a private school with tuition. The figure depends on grade level and program track, and the tuition page is where to start. A counselor gives you the actual number on the first call, and nothing is billed for that call.

What else a K-12 year costs

The cost of K-12 online education is more than tuition, so it helps to know the whole list before you commit:

Reliefthe start

Enroll in any month, starting with the brief

Enrollment is rolling, so a student starts on a week that suits the household rather than a district calendar. The admissions requirements are short.

Four steps from first call to first lesson

  1. Talk to a counselor and say what is changing in the household.
  2. Send whatever records you have, in any shape.
  3. Hear back what was kept, what is open and what comes first.
  4. Pick a start week and enroll; lessons are self-paced from the first day.

Starting mid-year in Lemoore

A family that wants to enroll in homeschool for the spring, or that arrives on orders in November, is not too late. Our note on whether it is too late to enroll covers the mid-year case, and homeschool online basics answers the first-week questions.

P

Pro tip

When orders come, ask for the file while your student is still on the roll

School offices move fastest for a student who is still enrolled. The week orders arrive, ask the current school for the cumulative folder, the newest report card, any testing and, for grades nine to twelve, an unofficial transcript. Bring the stack to the first call and nothing finished has to be done twice.

Questionsbefore relief

Lemoore online homeschool questions from base and farm households

What does it cost?

Tuition depends on grade level and program track, and both monthly plans and pay-in-full options exist. Start at the tuition page; a counselor gives you the actual figure on the first call, which carries no charge.

Do I still file with the state if my child enrolls with you?

No. The Private School Affidavit belongs to California’s home-based private school route under Education Code § 33190. Enrolling in a school is the other route, and the school holds the record instead. If you have already filed for this year, say so on the first call and a counselor will tell you what, if anything, is left to do.

What happens to my child’s IEP or 504 plan?

An IEP or 504 plan belongs to the district that wrote it and does not travel off that district’s roll. What does travel is the federal right under IDEA to request a no-cost evaluation from your local district, enrolled there or not. Put that request in writing to the district serving Lemoore. Tell a counselor what the plan provided before you enroll.

How many credits does my student already have, and how many are left?

The one question a general answer cannot settle. Send whatever the last school filed, even a photograph, and a counselor gives you both numbers before any assignment is set.

Will a diploma from an online school be taken seriously?

It is issued by an accredited school on that school’s own requirements, and admissions offices and employers treat it as one. It is not a GED.

Can my student transfer back to public school later?

Credits earned here travel on an accredited transcript, read like any transferring student’s record. Acceptance is always the receiving district’s call, so email the district you might return to and ask in writing how they treat credits from an accredited private school. Lemoore families should check which district their address falls in first.

Can we start partway through the year?

Yes. Enrollment is rolling and not tied to any district calendar, so a student begins on a real week. Mid-year starts are ordinary here.

Which districts serve Lemoore, and do we need their permission to leave?

The city is served by the Lemoore Union Elementary School District and the Lemoore Union High School District. Moving to a private online school does not need either district’s approval. Tell your child’s current school the last day of attendance in writing and ask it to send the records on.

What happens to schoolwork during a deployment or a move to new orders?

It keeps going on whatever pace the household can hold. Lessons are self-paced with no set hour, and the courses, teachers and transcript stay the same when the family relocates to another base or another state. Tell your counselor what is coming and the course load is set around it.

Can an older student fit school around seasonal farm work?

Yes. Self-paced lessons have no fixed hour, so a student who works mornings through a harvest or packing season can do coursework in the afternoon or evening and lighten the load for those weeks. Raise the season on the first call so the plan already allows for it.

Hand the K-12 watch to a counselor

An online homeschool in Lemoore should start the way a watch does. Say what is changing at home, send what you have, and let someone read it before a single lesson is set. That is the whole turnover, and it takes one call.
