Scottsdale Online High School
A school-issued diploma path for families across Scottsdale, from Old Town and McCormick Ranch to DC Ranch, Grayhawk, and the North Scottsdale foothills.
Your Options
Scottsdale students have three paths. Here’s how they compare.
Most families weighing online high school land in one of these three lanes. The right answer depends on schedule, credential needs, and how often the family moves.
All three are legitimate paths. HSOA fits families who want the structure and credential of school without the bell schedule or the homeschool paperwork. Learn how the diploma works →

Early graduation high school programs
Our Scottsdale online high school offers a flexible schedule that allows students to earn their high school diploma while living at home and enjoying family time. The average student graduates in 1-2 years, depending on the program.
There are several Early Graduation High School Programs available. Students can choose the program that best suits their needs and interests.
The College Preparatory Program
Standard college-prep coursework structured for students aiming at four-year admission, with full transcript portability.
The Honors Program
Rigorous honors coursework across core subjects. Recognized on the transcript and weighted in college applications.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program
IB-aligned coursework for students pursuing the international diploma path or competitive university admissions.
The Early College High School Program
Concurrent dual-enrollment with partner colleges. Students complete college credit alongside the high school diploma.
Pro Tip from the Eagle
Training for golf, tennis, or the stage? The schedule bends around practice, not the other way around.
A lot of Scottsdale families we hear from have a student in serious training: junior golf at the North Scottsdale academies, competitive tennis, dance, or performing arts, where practice and travel swallow the school day. Because the program is self-paced and the records are ours to keep, a student can train in the morning, travel for a tournament, and still keep credits on track. The transcript carries a CEEB code and the diploma is recognized wherever they land. The Eagle’s helped plenty of competitive athletes and performers graduate on time without giving up the sport.

Quick Answer
Do Scottsdale families need to file an Affidavit of Intent to switch to online high school?
No. The Affidavit of Intent under ARS §15-802 applies to home-based instruction. Private schools fulfill the state’s compulsory attendance requirement directly, so enrolling at HSOA satisfies the law without any homeschool filing with Maricopa County or the Arizona Department of Education.
If the student is currently enrolled in Scottsdale Unified School District, Paradise Valley Unified, or a neighboring district school, the family withdraws there and we handle the records request. The student is in coursework within the week.
Where the Diploma Goes
Where the diploma takes Scottsdale graduates
A school-issued diploma reads the same to admissions offices and employers whether it was issued in person or online. Graduates from established online programs apply to Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Grand Canyon University, Scottsdale Community College, and the wider Maricopa Community Colleges network. Career-tech and dual-enrollment pathways are well established; honors and AP coursework appear on the transcript the same as a brick-and-mortar transcript.
For students whose plans take them out of state, common for healthcare families moving between Mayo Clinic and HonorHealth campuses, and for hospitality, tech, and competitive-sports families who relocate for work or training, the CEEB code is registered, the diploma is recognized, and the records are verifiable. That portability is the practical difference between a homeschool credential and a school-issued one.
