How to Withdraw Your Child from a Wyoming Public School
Wyoming asks a home educating family for nothing. One clause survives, and it is written for a parent who has not told the district where the child is going. Telling them is the whole of it.

In 2023 Vermont stopped collecting the course of study and the yearly assessment. It did not stop requiring them. They live in your house now, which makes your own records matter more.
South Dakota stopped calling home education an excuse from school attendance and started calling it a way of complying. Everything else about the current law follows from that.
Rhode Island does not take a notice. It takes a decision, from an elected school committee that meets in public, and the timetable is their calendar rather than yours.
Hawaii is the one state that signs your notice and hands it back to you. Read what the two signatures mean, and what the department says plainly that they do not mean.
North Dakota tests at four grades, more than any state we have written up. What it does with a low score is send your child to be assessed for a learning disability, not to be punished.
Montana is the one state that says in statute who evaluates a home school year, and the answer is the parent. In 2025 it also stopped treating your home as a school building.
Maine keeps the door open. A home instructed student can still take classes, try out for teams and use the library, and the statute pays the district for the time they are there.
West Virginia says progress is acceptable at the fourth stanine or on any improvement from last year. Getting better counts, and most guides leave that half out.
Wisconsin is the one state where the form goes first. File the PI-1206 on or before the last day of attendance, then withdraw, or the gap can be recorded as truancy.
